One fee model for the whole platform — see how it works for your side of the project.
What you pay
You only ever fund the milestone amount you agreed to with your professional. There’s no signup fee, no subscription, and no markup added by Permit.ca.
No platform fee
Permit.ca doesn’t charge clients anything to post a project, get matched, or compare quotes.
Pay per milestone
Fund one milestone at a time by Interac e-Transfer — never the full project upfront.
Protected until approved
Your payment sits in the Permit Wallet and is only released once you approve the completed work.
Is there a fee to post a project?
No. Posting a project and comparing quotes is free.
Do I pay anything if I don’t hire anyone?
No. You only fund a milestone once you’ve accepted a quote and signed an agreement with a professional.

Fee tiers
The platform fee is tiered by total project value and deducted from your milestone payout at the same time it’s released. Larger projects earn a lower rate — the bigger the project, the more you keep.
| Total project value | Platform fee |
|---|---|
| Under $10,000 CAD | 15% |
| $10,000 – $50,000 CAD | 10% |
| $50,000 CAD or more | 5% |
Deducted from your payout
The fee is deducted from each approved milestone payout. It is not added to the amount the client pays.
Paid seven days after approval
Once the client approves your milestone, your payout is sent exactly seven days later with the fee already accounted for.
No hidden costs
No signup fee, no monthly subscription, and no cost to browse or quote on opportunities.
How milestone payments work
Each milestone follows a clear process, so you know when work should begin, what the client needs to approve, and when your payout will arrive.
The client funds the milestone
The current milestone must be funded before you begin work on that stage of the project.
You complete and submit the work
Upload the agreed deliverables and supporting details through the project workspace.
The client reviews the milestone
The client can approve the work or reject it with a reason if revisions are required.
Your payout is scheduled
Approval automatically starts the payout process. You do not need to chase the client or request payment manually.
You receive your payout
Your approved payout is sent by Interac e-Transfer exactly seven days after client approval.
Is there a cost to join as a professional?
No. Applying, getting verified, and quoting on opportunities is free.
When does Permit.ca deduct the platform fee?
The platform fee is deducted from your approved milestone payout. There is no fee when you join, browse opportunities, or submit a quote.
How is the fee calculated on a project with multiple milestones?
Your fee tier is based on the total accepted project value, not the value of each individual milestone. The same percentage is then applied to every milestone payout for that project. For example, a $12,000 project falls within the 10% tier, even when it is divided into several milestones.
When does the seven-day payout period begin?
The seven-day period begins when the client approves the completed milestone. Completing or submitting the work does not start the payout period.
Can I manage more than one project at a time?
Yes. You can manage multiple projects through your professional dashboard. Each project has its own agreement, milestones, approvals, payments, and payout history.
How are fees calculated when I have multiple projects?
Each project is calculated separately based on its own total accepted value. For example, a $7,000 project falls within the 15% tier, while a separate $15,000 project falls within the 10% tier.
Do I pay anything if my quote is not accepted?
No. There is no charge to review an opportunity or submit a quote. The platform fee only applies when you are hired and receive milestone payouts.
What happens if the client rejects a milestone?
The client must provide a reason. You can review the feedback, complete the required revisions, and resubmit the milestone for approval.
How are additional services or scope changes paid?
Any additional work should be documented and approved through the platform before you begin. The scope, price, or milestones can then be updated so the extra work is formally included and funded.
Can a dispute delay my payout?
Yes. A dispute raised before the payout is sent may pause it while Permit.ca reviews the project agreement, submitted work, files, and communication history.
Where can I track my earnings and payouts?
Your Payouts Hub shows what you have earned, which milestones are awaiting client approval, which payouts are on their way, and your completed payout history.
